Palutena (パルテナ Parutena) is the ruler of Angel Land, Goddess of Light and patron deity to Pit. In Uprising however, she is more of an ongoing aid to Pit.

[edit] Kid Icarus

In the 1986 game, Medusa had taken control of Angel Land and banished Palutena, requiring Pit to collect Three Sacred Treasures in order to save Palutena and free Angel Land from Medusa's reign.

[edit] Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters

In this game Palutena gives Pit the task of regathering the Three Sacred Treasures in preparation for the oncoming attack from Orcos.

[edit] Super Smash Brothers Brawl

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Palutena appears in The Subspace Emissary. In order for Pit to fight the Subspace Army, she gives him a new Bow. On a side note, she is the only ally character that isn't playable within the story. In Palutena's Army (Pit's Final Smash) she appears and helps Pit by summoning Centurions to attack his enemies.

[edit] Kid Icarus: Uprising

In Kid Icarus: Uprising Palutena's role is far increased, and has a much bigger part of the story. She is usually seen and heard talking to Pit while on his various missions, giving him tips, advice, player controls and details of upcoming monster battles. She also becomes the villain for the start of the Chaos Kin arc whilst under it's control.

[edit] Trivia

  • Her name comes from the Greek Goddess of Wisdom and War, Pallas Athena. Once taken over by the Roman culture, she later become known as Minerva.
  • In the 'best ending' of Kid Icarus there was a hint of romance between Pit and Palutena. However, this was only in the English version. The Japanese version's best ending was Pit growing taller. The ending with the kiss was added in the English version to replace one of the bad endings, where Palutena turns Pit into a Specknose.
